Honey Extractors

AFRICAN BEEKEEPERS LIMITED

Honey Extractors

African Beekeepers Limited supplies manual centrifugal honey extractors designed for efficient, hygienic and practical honey processing.

The extractors allow beekeepers to remove honey from prepared and uncapped frames while preserving the drawn comb for reuse by the colony. Models are available for both small-scale and higher-volume honey-processing operations.

CENTRIFUGAL HONEY EXTRACTION

Manual Honey Extractors

African Beekeepers Limited has developed two sizes of manually operated honey extractors: a three-frame model and a nine-frame model.

The extractors combine locally fabricated content with selected imported components sourced from established European beekeeping equipment manufacturers. This provides a practical balance between local production, dependable performance and access to replacement components.

Each extractor is constructed with a food-grade plastic tank supported by a strong three-legged metal frame. The manual crank operates the internal basket, using centrifugal force to remove honey from uncapped frames.

Three-Frame Extractor

The three-frame extractor is suitable for small-scale beekeepers, training centres and rural honey-processing operations. Its compact construction makes it easier to transport and use as a mobile extraction unit.

Nine-Frame Extractor

The nine-frame model provides greater processing capacity and is better suited to community groups, cooperatives, larger apiaries and honey-processing centres handling more frames during a harvest.

Key Features

  • Available in three-frame and nine-frame capacities
  • Manually operated without dependence on electricity
  • Food-grade plastic extraction tank
  • Strong three-legged metal support frame
  • Designed for stable and practical field operation
  • Preserves extracted combs for reuse in the hive
  • Suitable for rural, community and commercial honey processing

SAFE AND EFFECTIVE OPERATION

Preparing Frames for Extraction

Only mature, properly capped honey frames should be selected for extraction. The wax cappings are removed before the frames are loaded evenly into the extractor basket.

  1. Place the extractor on a firm and level working surface.
  2. Uncap the mature honey frames using suitable uncapping equipment.
  3. Load the frames evenly to keep the internal basket balanced.
  4. Secure the extractor before turning the handle gradually.
  5. Collect the extracted honey through the tank outlet.
  6. Clean and dry all food-contact surfaces after processing.

The basket should come to a complete stop before frames are removed or repositioned. Operators should never reach into the extractor while its internal mechanism is moving.
