African Bee Keepers Has been involved in several bee keeping projects over the years in both Kenya and the region.
African Beekeepers has set up its own apiaries in several areas of Kenya were Langstroth bee hives are placed in carefully selected areas and managed by ABL staff, all the honey harvested from the project hives is transported to our Nairobi facility for extraction, processing and packaging ready for sale.African Bee Keepers in partnership with Rain Forest Alliance and Ruama Coffee cooperative society set up and outgrow bee keeping project, the project hives belong to the members of the coffee society, African Beekeepers is involved in the management of the bee hives using selected members of the group to participate in management under ABL supervision. African Beekeepers buys all the honey that is produced under a purchasing contract.
African Beekeepers has entered into a partnership with Nature Kenya to operate a commercial community honey production project that will work with community honey producers in the Tana Delta.
Crop pollination in the western world is a service that farmers pay for, it is a service that has nothing to do with honey production, it purely to do with using bees to pollinate crops.
The bee keepers is contacted to supply well populated bee hives to be placed in crop field just before the crop flowers, once the flowering is over the bee keeper will remove the hives. This service is charged on a per hive per day basis.
African beekeepers has developed a tailor made web based application that not only monitors the activity of bee hives, the weather, nectar flows of the various nectar bearing vegetation, honey production but also monitor an out grower operation, from honey production to payment of honey harvested, and including tractability of honey through geo tagging.
