STARTING A MODERN APIARY
ABL Introduces the Genuine Beekeeper Startup Kit
African Beekeepers Limited has introduced a complete startup kit designed to provide new beekeepers with the essential equipment needed to establish and manage a modern apiary.

LOCALLY ADAPTED TECHNOLOGY
Langstroth Beehives Made for Kenyan Conditions
African Beekeepers Limited has been at the forefront of adapting the Langstroth beehive to local conditions and has manufactured and supplied modern beehives in Kenya for many years.
ABL’s experience is founded not only on manufacturing equipment but also on keeping bees and operating commercial apiaries using the Langstroth hive system.
The company’s Langstroth beehives are manufactured in Kenya using locally available materials. They are fitted with beeswax comb starters produced from local beeswax.
These starter strips help guide the bees as they construct straight combs on the hive frames. Using locally produced beeswax also reduces reliance on imported wax and the associated biosecurity concerns.
LIVELIHOODS AND ENTERPRISE
Creating Opportunities Through Modern Beekeeping
The startup kit is intended to help new beekeepers approach beekeeping as a practical agricultural enterprise rather than as an activity based on equipment alone.
With suitable training, proper colony management and access to reliable markets, a well-established apiary can support honey production, pollination and the development of other bee products.
African Beekeepers Limited remains committed to creating employment and small-business opportunities, particularly for Kenya’s growing youth population, through professional modern beekeeping.
